Mission The Food Security Analysis Unit- Somalia (FSAU) seeks to provide evidence-based analysis of Somali food, nutrition and livelihood security to enable both short-term emergency responses and long-term strategic planning to promote food and livelihood security for Somali people. Objectives
Food Security Component To ensure continued availability and access to information and analysis of Somali livelihoods, thereby enabling early and appropriate responses to food insecurity crises and the development of policies and strategies to address longer term food and livelihood security issues. Nutrition Component To ensure that relevant and accurate information on the nutritional status of populations throughout Somalia is available to decision makers.

Overall Goal of the Project
Contribute to an improved nutritional status of vulnerable
populations of Somalia through mitigation of deteriorating health and
food security conditions. Primary Objective of this Project
Provide timely and appropriate information on nutritional status of
populations in food insecure areas of Somalia. The Food Security
Analysis Unit (FSAU) under the umbrella of FAO provides decision-makers
within the humanitarian community in Somalia with information to
targeting the vulnerable populations with appropriate assistance.
